چکیده

Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Introduction Severe aortic stenosis (AS) represents an important cause morbidity and mortality, being valve replacement the cornerstone for prognostic shift. Although mild moderate AS are regarded as low risk, its benign course has recently been challenged. Purpose to evaluate cardiovascular (CV) events identify factors in patients (pts) with AS. Methods Single center observational study pts consecutive echocardiographic evaluations, during a minimum followup (FUP) 3 years. Clinical characteristics laboratory data were collected at baseline follow-up (FUP). Analyzed FUP included pre-syncope/syncope, chest pain, dysrhythmic episodes, hospital admission due heart failure (HF), death CV death. Statistical analysis was performed using Chi-square Mann-Whitney tests. Results total 78 (74±10 years; 52.6% males), monitored mean 47±16 months. The main risk systemic arterial hypertension (83.3%), hypercholesterolemia (66.7%) diabetes (41%). Atrial fibrillation present 39.8% pts. At baseline, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) 62±8,6% LV mass index (LV MI) 118±30 g/m2. FUP, NTproBNP 7879 pg/ml evaluation depicted LVEF 59±9.6% LVMI 131±36 g/m2 (table 1). 6% had 13% pain about 5% presented namely complete atrioventricular block ectopic beats. All dysrhythmias gradient greater than 30 mmHg (p = 0.030). Lower EF 0.005), MI 0.021) 0.016) right dysfunction 0.048) correlated HF (28% pts). During 29% died, 14% from cause. Greater 0.046) 0.032) worse associated death, while higher 0.034) showed correlation Conclusion Contemporary stratification is still incipient. However, less severe In our population, 1/3 died 4 years half them CDV although they didn’t progress Further investigation warranted assess whether earlier intervention could improve outcomes this subset

BACKGROUND Multivitamin/multimineral (MVM) supplements are commonly consumed by the general population, but little is known regarding their composition and compliance with local regulations. We assessed the composition and compliance with regulations [no indication in the label of vitamin/minerals amounting <15% of the acceptable daily intake (ADI)] of MVM available in Switzerland. METHODS Th...

Data sharing: not as simple as it seems

In recent years there has been a major change on the part of funders, particularly in North America, so that data sharing is now considered to be the norm rather than the exception. We believe that data sharing is a good idea. However, we also believe that it is inappropriate to prescribe exactly when or how researchers should preserve and share data, since these issues are highly specific to e...

Measuring hearing aid outcomes--not as easy as it seems.

Outcomes measurement in audiology has received much attention because of the need to demonstrate efficacy of treatment, provide evidence for third-party payment, carry out cost-benefit analyses, and justify resource allocation. Outcomes measurement shows the benefits obtained from a hearing aid and determines the costs of obtaining those benefits. In this article, we discuss why the seemingly s...
